ഈഴവര്‍

ബി.സി രണ്ടാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ അളകാർ മല ലിഖിതം, ബി.സി മൂന്നാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ അറ്റത്തനപ്പട്ടി ശിലാലിഖിതം, സിത്തനവാസൽ, തിരുപ്പുറം കുൺ റം, സിദ്ധർ മലയിലെ ഗുഹാ ലിഖിതം എന്നിവ ഈഴവ തീയ്യ ബന്ധം സ്ഥാപിക്കുവാൻ പറ്റിയ ചരിത്ര രേഖകളാണ്. അളകാർ മല ലിഖിതത്തിൽ 'തീയ്യൻ ചന്ദൻ' എന്നയാളെ പറ്റിയും 'ഈഴവൻ ആതൻ' എന്ന തുണി വ്യാപാരിയെ പറ്റിയും പരാമർശമുണ്ട്. ഈ തീയ്യൻ ചന്ദൻ  ഈഴവൻ 'പൊല്ലാലയ്യൻ' എന്ന വിഭാഗത്തിൽപ്പെടുന്ന ആളാണന്നും ലിഖിതത്തിൽ പറയുന്നു' (ഡോ. എംഎസ്. ജയപ്രകാശ്)

STONE INSCRIPTIONS

1. The word 'Ezhava' appears in the ARITHINAPATTI  stone inscriptions of third century BC_ the period of emperor Asoka.

2 . A cave inscription at KILAVALAVU near cannanore also mentioned about Ezhavas.

3. Ezhavan in ALAKARMALI  inscription of second century BC

4 . In SITHANAVASAL cave inscription of the same period

5. In THIRUPURAMKUNTAM cave inscription of the first century BC

6 . Ezhavan in cave inscription of the same period at SIDDHARMALAI

The above inscriptions mention about donations made by EZhavans to Buddhist viharas and Jain temples. (Only kings and rich merchants used to make such donations)

Research scholars presented reports in All India Oriental Conference held at Pune in 1919. The observation was accepted by the conference . There were rich Ezhavas in South India 2250 years ago
